Welcome to Khin's Shack

Preah Sihanouk, Cambodia

General Info

Khin's Shack sits comfortably in the laid-back coastal vibe of Preah Sihanouk, offering a dining experience that feels relaxed yet thoughtfully put together. This is the kind of place where locals and travelers naturally cross paths, drawn in by honest flavors, a welcoming setup, and a menu that keeps things simple but satisfying. From quick bites to slow brunch catch-ups, the atmosphere leans casual while still feeling dependable and well run.

Food is clearly the heart of the experience here. The scallops stand out with their clean, ocean-fresh taste, cooked in a way that lets the natural flavor shine. Seafood lovers also gravitate toward the crab, which feels generous and satisfying without being heavy. One of the most talked-about plates is the grilled squid, known locally as មឹកអាំង, delivering smoky notes that pair beautifully with a chilled glass of white wine. On the lighter side, Rau Muống Xào Tỏi brings balance to the table with its garlicky aroma and crisp texture, rounding out meals with a familiar comfort.

The menu flows easily, making it suitable whether you’re stopping by for brunch or settling in for a longer meal. Portions are approachable, which works well for sharing, especially if you want to sample a few different dishes. Cocktails are available for those easing into the evening, while the quick bite options keep things flexible for guests on the move. Everything feels designed to suit different rhythms of the day without forcing a particular dining style.

From a practical standpoint, the restaurant experience is smooth. Free parking nearby makes arrival stress-free, and having a clean toilet on site adds to the overall comfort, especially for families or longer visits. These small details matter, and they quietly elevate the overall impression without drawing attention away from the food itself.

Reviews often mention how easy it is to settle in here. The location works well for both planned meals and spontaneous stops, and the casual service style helps guests feel at home rather than rushed. Khin’s Shack doesn’t try to be flashy. Instead, it focuses on consistency, approachable flavors, and a dining environment that feels genuine, making it a reliable choice in Preah Sihanouk’s growing restaurant scene.

What customers say?

“ Beachfront dining with delicious Cambodian style food. Menu in English and Cambodian, staff welcoming, bilingual and friendly. Family owned restaurant, prices reasonable for the location. Several options for vegetarians. Serves big and drinks cold! ”

- Jess Rankine -

“ Update: CNY Eve was loud from firecrackers and Rocky the boombox place next door. Will it lose its peaceful mystique? We'll see. New menu from July 2022, including fresh oysters with Koh Kong sauce! ABA qr code payments accepted. Superb seafood BBQ, amok, and other Khmer specialities at insane pre-sino-itis prices! The original signage is gone, but look out for the big number 49 ... Same place, same people, same ambrosia! ”

- J N -

“ What a great spot to people watch plus take in the beach views. The food was tasty especially my pork spring rolls and very well drained too. Lemon shake with coconutilk and ice was a new experience and one I loved . There house white wine is only $2 a bargain and my ice was free . Lovely friendly staff too ”

- Sandra Nesbitt -

“ Went there several times. The friendliness of the owner is really heartwarming. Despite its top-notch service, the fresh seafood at a reasonable price is one of the main reasons I have patronized it multiple times. A tip for you when coming to this restaurant: try to get the Khmer version of the menu from the owner, as it offers bigger platters compared to the English version. Don't worry if you can't read Khmer, the owner and the staff are always ready to help you. ”

“ Great value for money und relaxed Ambiente. Best Cambodian food so far and big portions. Hidden between larger restaurants, it is easy to miss but definitely worth a visit. ”

“ Place is not crowded, with music from restaurants beside it. Good place to hangout. Food is clean and delicious. Price is affordable considering the location. Ingredients are fresh. Brother who served us is friendly and speak good english. Opened since before sihanoukville is famous, do recommend to come and support this local family-owned business. Close at 12am. ”

- Edward Lee -

“ Yeah I really like this place as it reminds me of the beach 20 years ago with the old style chairs and this is Khmer run and owned beer is not as cheap as it was before but yeah it's now 2025. ”
